Late night dinner in Kensington?

I have such a short time in London, I don't want to miss a meal! My flight lands at heathrow at 9pm then I have to make it to my hotel in Kensington. Should I just call it a night or is to possible to find a late bite somewhere nearby? I'm only really interested in British food. Thanks!

Bumpkin was suit your needs if you're in South Kensington -- its British pubish kind of food. It's just a neighbourhood restaurant, but should be open at that time. Maggie Jones is another very British option, but unsure if open late (I've never been but have been meaning to).

Le Cafe Anglais isn't in Kensington in the case you're stopping at a hotel first -- it will require a taxi from anywhere in Kensington .

i'd go straight to the restaurant first and then later to the hotel, no?

I suppose depends on luggage! We're spending more time discussing this than the OP.

yes, you're right. so i'll end by saying that maggie jones was dreadful the one and only time i ate there, about eleven years ago, where does the time go.

what day do you land and where in kensington are you staying? if you only have carry on luggage and everything goes fast, you'll be in kensington by 10.00, just in time for dinner at launceston place or le cafe anglais. but any later and i think you are out of luck for british food - restaurants close by 10.30 on weekdays.

How can someone land at LHR at 9 and be in London by 10? I think just leaving the plane, going through customs and immigration etc. would take at least 30 minutes and probably more. Heck, I hope you're right. I return later this month and hope those queues are gone!

i've done heathrow to my place often in 25 minutes - so if you're at the gate at 9pm, at border control 9.20pm, no queues and no checked baggage and no taxi rank queues, its possible. but of course, everything has to go just right - ie, get through the hammersmith flyover with no hassle (should be ok at that time of the night though).

You've been very lucky. :-) When we drive home from Heathrow it can take 20 minutes or over an hour depending on the M25. I think it's the exception to have no queue at border control these days.
