Cafe Carolina in Encino

What does everyone think? I'm trying to find an Italian place in the area to go to for my birthday with my family. They have good reviews on yelp, was wondering what people here thought. I welcome any recommendations for other places in the Agoura Hills/Calabasas/Encino area, too. Thanks!

I will second Gio Cucina. Its not fancy but the food is solid and the service is very attentive.

It's not very birthday festive looking. Never eaten the food, but the look of the place leaves a lot to be desired.
Riviera in Calabasas is good, very good in fact for birthday celebrations. In the same center as Babies R Us.

Don't judge the book by it's cover, carter. Look past the exterior and try the food. The place is small and friendly with just a touch of elegence. Quite festive, indeed.

Then a coat of paint on the outside could do wonders to enhance your desire to test out what is inside. Place looks pretty grungy from the outside, meaning non-celebratory.

If I'd used that standard to test out what was inside I would have missed out on some incredible food over the years....
Conversely, I've tasted some of the most mediocre food inside some of the most beautiful exteriors.

Just celebrated my birthday with friends and family at Cafe Carolina and we had a great time. The food was great; very authentic Italian,
and the service was impeccable. Can't wait to return.
