Jubba - East African - Wyandotte St. Windsor, ON ( a DTW suburb)

Went to Jubba last night with friends and two of us had the large goat curry and one had the small beef stew. Very clean and friendly place. $10 for large plate and $6 for small plate. I ended up having to get two take home boxes for the leftovers and I was stuffed from the main meal. Lots of student activity (good value and proximity to U Windsor).

I wouldn't call it spicy in a hot way but very flavorful. Goat was very tender and well done, rice was extraordinary and spiced very will and the salad was refreshing. The ranchy/cream dressing is improved with lemon-pepper and was just right.

Wyandotte street is much like Dequindre/John R in Madison Heights and there are literally hundreds of small restaurants where you want to try them all.

Well worth the drive/toll/customs from Detroit.

Sounds good. I'd love to see African cuisines gain more traction.

There's a Congolese place in Windsor, I believe on Wyandotte. It's at a corner and says "Congo Food" in the window. Is this the same place as Jubba? I tried to go to that Congolese place several times, but it was never open.

No. The Congolese place did not survive, but it might have, had it been located along the same part of Wyandotte as Jubba. Jubba is quite close to the Ambassador Bridge.

Ah, thanks for the update! Sad that place shuttered and I never got to try. Hope Jubba makes it--I need to find some time to get over there to try it.
