Fabbrica review - Delicious casual Italian food with a great atmosphere!
I have been here several times and I have to say it keeps getting better. My husband and I always start with the plate of 4 salumi – you choose which ones you want. Every single morsel is delicious! Served on a big wooden board with mustard, crostini and pickled veggies it is the perfect way to start off a meal. We both had the pasta as it is to die for! I don’t know how they make it but the texture is so light and not at all starchy. My gnocchi were perfectly tender, not at all hard or chewy. The beautifully simple tomato and basil sauce had just the right acidity to cut through the richness of the gnocchi and the addition of burrata was, well, just decadent!
The wine list is not inexpensive but there are some great choices between $40-$60 per bottle. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle Andeluna malbec, a terrific winery we visited in Argentina but whose wine is sadly not often found in Canada.
This place is a much needed addition to a neighbourhood not otherwise known for great restaurants. Hopefully Chef McEwan is starting a trend and we will see more great restaurants pop up in north Toronto!
