Visiting for First time. Ft. Lauderdale...need a bday reservation dinner!

I am a 32yo gay male who, self admittedly, can be a snobby pain in the ass. I am visiting for a week in late June. I have a friend who just moved to Ft.L 3 months ago so staying with him. This is going to be my birthday week, turning 33. I want an amazing kickass birthday dinner. Is there a place that will make it happen for me? A place with amazing food and a place that is a see and be scene. It is a month away, so want to make a reservation now so as not to miss out! Prefer not to go to Miami as I have been there a million times and for some reason or another I just never went to Ft.L! Please help!

  1. There are quite a few options, but it all depends on your definition of "kick ass." here are some options to look at: market 17 - farm to table kinda place and they have dining in the dark- eating in a pitch black room! Steak 954 is fantastic, Secret Garden at Pillars luxury hotel- on the water and you need to "join" free club to dine there- menu changes daily. 3030 Ocean has great food. Valentino's Cucina Italian...also amazing. Good Luck!

Market 17 is a good choice (particularly for happy hour) but had to LOL when you suggested the dining in the dark option in response to the poster's request for a place "that is a see and be scene"!

Ha! He's here for a week, maybe he'll wanna "hide" one night. I wasn't suggesting he do dining in the dark for the bday dinner, just that market 17 is a bit different. Glad I could make a chuckle :)

    2. Cafe Martorano (Oakland Park not Hard Rock) http://www.cafemartorano.com/
      Steak 954 (W Hotel)
      China Grill
