Low-fat, low-calories vegetarian snacks

Looking for quick, simple and exciting snack recipes and ideas. Give me your best :)

    the best ones are sold at costco.

      1. baked apples

        slice thinly, sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, and/or splenda. bake for an hour on 200, flip, bake until golden brown or desired crunchiness.

            Maybe not terribly exciting, but greek yogurt with 1/2 a cut up banana and 1/4 cup of chocolate strawberry granola. Tastes very decadent but is still healthy and relatively low cal-
            Also goat cheese on anything makes a great snack - goat cheese has a lot less fat and sodium (generally) than cow's milk cheese. You can find great soft spreadable kinds.
            The old standby of apples and pb -just a little pb goes a long way

              lupini beans (from middle eastern or brazilian grocer). You need to squeeze them so you dont get the pod. But they are so salty and delicious.

              jicima with hoisin sauce

              ryvita/wasa type cracker w pb

          2. The recipe uses a smoker but if you use liquid smoke instead it becomes a very easy recipe. They are amazingly delicious.

                they are definitely a great healthy snack if you can limit yourself to just a few, but typically someone looking for low-fat/low-cal snacks probably wants something that they don't need to have so much self-control with.

            2. Roasted chickpeas. Swiss chard chips. Chocolate mousse made with whipped silken tofu. Thin slices of skin-on pumpkin, seasoned and roasted until chewy/crispy.

                1. Oasis brand makes a Zero Fat "Mediterranean Medley" Hoummus.

                  It is seriously good.

                  "Mediterranean Medley" is made with chick peas and sweet peppers, onions and other veggies instead of oil. 2 tbsp had 18 calories and zero fat. 2 tbsp regular hummus has 70 calories, mostly form olive oil.

                  I ate the entire 10 oz. tub with jicama sticks- a whopping 180 calories.
