Casual dinner in Lake Louise

Hi all,

My boyfriend and I will be in the Rockies late June. We'll be staying in Banff and will not have a car. Our plan is to take the Greyhound bus to Lake Louise on the 25th and hike for the day, then take the 8 p.m. Greyhound back to Banff. That leaves us one dinner in Lake Louise. I have no idea what the dining options are. We don't need anything fancy (we're having a nice dinner the night before) and will be in our hiking clothes anyway. I'm generally up for anything but my boyfriend is a less adventurous eater. I would be happy with anything good/decent and affordable.

Suggestions? Places to absolutely avoid? Thanks!

Mary

Post Hotel bar/lounge wins this easily, hands down.

Glacier Saloon at the Chateau is OK also, if a tad pricey.

The hostel used to have yummy food. Its very casual so no worries about hiking clothes. I haven't been there for a while, otherwise the Post Hotel pub is good too.

Based on the recommendations here, we tried out Post Hotel Pub last week. It was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Since May is still off season, we showed up on the weekend for dinner and did not have to wait.
The primerib was outstanding. We did not expect portion sizes to be so hearty. So we actually ended ordering too much. Such good value. The goulash was also outstanding. The 'spatzle' was so good. We ate everything on our plates.
Service was great. Could not have asked for a better meal and service. Wished I heard about the pub sooner. We will visit everytime we are in the area.

Will you be up at the lake or down in town? If you are up at the lake, while I cannot comment on the actual food, the pub at the Chateau has a lovely outdoor patio with amazing views, I would go there even just for a sandwich.
