I heart New York--bunch of softies
What's happened to New York--it's gotten soft. Everybody is so nice. The guy cutting the pastrami at Katz's was a sweetheart and the fatty meat was delicious. Nothing to complain about. Dinner at Acme was wonderful, though eating at 6:15 was blissfully quiet and serene--where was the ear-splitting din? The carrots and lardo were amazing, as was the pea soup. Nothing to complain about. Next day, burgers at Shake Shack on Fulton Mall were unctuous, and the service was smiley and nice. Whassup? Dinner at Rouge et Blanc on MacDougal was incredible: the marble sized octopi on bone marrow, the perfect soft shell crab in nuoc nam, the fatty lamb ribs with buttery roti. Not to mention the pickled lox, and nova on a bialy from Russ and Daughters for breakfast the next morning. Only thing I couldn't fit in was an order of Popeye's on Court Street...

Dont let one weekend ruin your opinion of NYC. Come on back, I promise we will be really rude and obnoxious.
In fact, just post something negative about EMP and you will see the wolves come out.

This is going to come out sounding the exact wrong way, but you'd have found Acme a lot less serene if you went there at a time that people who live in New York actually eat.
Nevertheless, glad you had a positive experience.
