Dinner with old friends before wedding

My husband and I are going to Boston for the wedding of a friend's daughter. We will be staying at the Marriott Copley Square with several college friends. We need a place for dinner not too far from the hotel where the food is good , not exorbitantly expensive and we will be able to hear each other talk. We like pretty much any cuisine. Any good ideas? It will be a Friday night, of Memorial Day weekend. So I want to make reservations ASAP if I need to.

Also, search for South End. Here's a thread I started, and got some great suggestions.

Thanks so much for directing me to the thread. I am down to 3 possibilities : Coda, Brasserie Jo and Petit Robert Bistro. Any thoughts or experiences?

Brasserie Jo would be my choice. I like both the atmosphere and the food. Despite its popularity, I don't care for the food at Petit Robert and the tables are very close together so it's hard hear and you can't have a good conversation. I haven't been to Coda.

You're welcome! I would also choose Brasserie Jo. It's very easy to have conversation, and the food is great. Coda is more informal, quite lively.

Another vote for Brasserie Jo. Save room for dessert! It's good enought to go there after other places just for dessert!

There are only about 200 places to pick from. Turner fisheries or skipjacks for fish.
