Catania - Ca-put?

Sign said closed until 5/10 for vacation, but was closed at least a day later than that (and didn't check this weekend). Phone is "temporarily disconnected".

Not good omens. Anyone know if they're back in business, or planning to be?

I thought they owned another place somewhere in brooklyn.. perhaps a call to that locations would answer some questions.

As with many small places, "ownership" is a collection of folks who put $ in. Some involved, some just "partners". I really have no idea what happened here or to the young couple that ran it, but I'd bet that the person who'd know would be the friendly guy who is somehow affiliated with Savoia & their owners & who seemed to be involved here. The ex-Enotecca pizza maker who seemed to be a 3rd partner here left awhile ago.

June 2, still closed! Sorry I missed them when they were open.

I saw the sign and thought it was an odd (busy) time of year to take a vacation. Heard good things and hped to try it someday.
      It's a tough business.

When I went by last evening, things at least looked a little different - stools weren't up on the window-bar anymore and there was a bike inside. Not clear whether it's slow progress to reopening or just clearing out for the next place, but we can be optimistic...

I don't know if it's still up but for a while there was another sign in the window advertising a chef for hire. Although that could have several meanings it didn't look too good in conjunction with the 'closed for vacation' sign.

Don't know if they are planning to return, but as of tonight (5/14) still closed with the same sign on the door. Hoping they come back, was actually quite delicious.

That's a shame -- they've been closed for over a month at this point. Shortly before they left for "vacation" they altered their hours to no longer serve breakfast on weekdays and didn't open on weekends until 9 am. I hope it's not true as I really like(d) this place, but I do fear for the worst.

Every morning when I walk by I get a bit more bummed that they're (likely) gone.
I really miss those almond/apricot pastries
