source for black chickpeas?

Bittman recipe online today, NYT. I think I've seen them somewhere, but can't remember, probably not Arax?

Try Indian grocery stores. I think I've seen them at both Shalimar in Central Sq Cambridge and Little India next to the Somerville MB.

yes, indian stores. i'm pretty sure i went looking for them in that little store near the old Cheapo's, only to find that 'black chickpeas' are not what they sound like, and i already stock them. let me try to look up for you, madrid.

o.k., so i'm completely wrong about this. they are black. and sound better than regular chickpeas per the link above. Oh Boy! something new! i called shalimar spice in the same Dosa Factory space; they have them and they're open til 10pm. < she goes into her pantry, opens the Indian bin and finds black chickpeas>? we shall see...............

I was in Ocean State Job-lot store in Dedham and they have black chickpeas. Two pound bag for $2.99. They also have some other varieties of dal.
