ISO Recommendations for Memorial Day Lunch

ellenost May 14, 2012 08:11 AM

Discovering that many restaurants are not open for lunch on Memorial Day. Any recommendations? We're staying in the River North area, and heading to the airport by 3:30. We don't have a car. Thanks very much.

I doubt if there are that many restaurants not open for lunch on Memorial Day. Some are closed on Mondays, but that's not related to the holiday.

I just did a quick check on opentable.com for two people on Memorial Day at 12:30 pm for River North, Streeterville, Old Town and West Town, - all easy walking or taxi access from where you are - and came up with too many choices to count. If you haven't checked Open Table, give it a shot, then we can help you narrow down your options.

Thanks, but I've already checked OpenTable (otherwise I wouldn't have posted). You're absolutely right--there are many restaurants that are open according to OpenTable--none of them seem to be very "chow-worthy" though. I'm interested to know whether there are restaurants that aren't listed on OpenTable that are open on Memorial Day for lunch that are well regarded. Called BlackBird--not open for holiday.
