Joe's crab shack - free crab for a year
Tomorrow Joe's Crab Shack chain is opening in Methuen MA.. The 1st 100 customers get free crab for a year. (not sure what that means exactly)... Im told the record anyone has waited is 28 hours!
Back 10-15 years ago when i used to travel alone a lot for work, id ofter stop into these when on the road.. predictable food in unfamiliar areas..

Been twice to Joe's (Florida and Virginia), both were horrible experiences that I wouldn't want to repeat even for free. Eventually, both shops closed, probably a combination of the horrible service and sub-par frozen seafood. The threads are littered with discussions of the horror that is Joe's Crab Shack.

I went this past Saturday night with a few people to a soft opening. They had a limited menu going, but I got a taste of the experience, and a crab facial as they put it.
The free crabs to the first 100 customers is basically one bucket of crabs a month for a whole year so don't get too excited.
The music was cranked up loud, and evey 20 mins. the staf has to do a dance infront of the customers.
The place reminds me of a Red Lobster type chain for young people.

That's pretty much why I avoid Coldstone Creamery: the singing staff. I can deal with staff singing happy birthday, but to treat employees like trained chimps just rubs me wrong.
