I agree with Sherman's, it is very good ice cream, it is Sherman's Dairy Bar, near the expressway.

For good drinks, appetizers, and sandwiches, try Clemitimes..the onion rings are very Good!!

Go 15-20 miles up the highway to Everyday People Cafe in Douglas. Note, they don't take reservations and they do get busy, with long waiting times to be seated at prime times on weekends.

Although quite a ways south, if you find yourself in the New Buffalo area, drop into Pierre-Anne's Crepes. It's a unique experience with both sweet and savory crepes to die for. I'm a meat and 'taters kinda guy but I can't wait to visit there every year. You'll never forget it, believe me.

Well, not a restaurant or bar but Sherman's ice cream is definitely worth a stop. Haven't been in a couple years but still have fond memories of the sampler I got with 6 mini scoops of deliciousness.
