Where to find chocolate baking sticks, or substitute
I have done an exhaustive internet search and I'm hoping for some direction on where to buy chocolate baking sticks for making pain au chocolate. I had some from france before, but have run out. Barry Callebaut has them on their website, but it's unclear how to order and if they sell to recreational bakers.
Hamilton area would be ideal, but willing to go anywhere in the GTA.
Thanks!

Call McCall's - I purchased a box of the Barry Callebaut chocolate sticks at the Warehouse (Dixie/Eglinton area) about a month ago. Just had pain au chocolate for Mother's Day. For the life of me, I can't remember the price but I believe it was a 2kg box.

re: chocolateshark
did you try the warehouse or the retail store? I got mine at the warehouse, and they did have lots at the time.

re: FrenchSoda
I did.... I went the other day to the warehouse.... it's $25 to get a membership for the year .... they had 2 boxes of croissant sticks.... they are the same exact type that i bought in france 3 years ago.... so that was nice
The warehouse had a ton of great baking stuff .... I would see myself making the trip back at some point (I'm in Hamilton)

Sorry, can't help you with sourcing ready-made ones around here, but I make my own by melting good quality chocolate and using a mould for water bottle ice sticks.
Have you tried calling McCalls or Goldy's?

re: FrenchSoda
Thanks for the response. I did look through McCalls website and didn't see it, maybe I'll try giving them a call..... making them myself is probably doable, just a bit more labour since croissants are labour intensive enough. Not sure about Goldy's... do they have a website?
Thanks :)
