best salted caramel ice cream in Toronto?

    Tried the salted caramel ice cream today at Hotel Gelato on Eglinton a few blocks west of Avenue Rd. and it had great caramel flavour if a bit under-salted. Good texture and mouth feel, too.

      If PC's other product is to go by, it should be some pretty dynamite ice cream. I read the ingredients today and it's all top quality goods.

        check if The Sweet Escapes makes some. their ice cream is made fresh and in small batches

          I'm not a connaisseur, but I really enjoy the salted caramel ice cream at Chocolateria in Roncesvalles.

          Go to Summerhill Market or All the Best Fine Foods and get yourself some Belly Salted Caramel. Hands down THE BEST. I promise.

            Sorry - I disagree. While some of the Belly line are great (e.g. Apple Crumble), the Salted Caramel was a great disappointment.
            AmuseGirl is a salted caramel addict - every place we visit she searches out the best. She had one spoonful of Belly and refused a second taste. I finally ate the rest, but agree it was just 1-dimensional.
            Sadly, I haven't found a great one in Toronto - but there are some great Dulce di Leche flavours around - lacks the salt, but great flavour (Haagen Dazs is one of the best and widely available).

              Being a salted caramel fiend myself, I agree with your opinion on Belly, especially at that price range. Topping it with more sea salt helped a bit, though. My fantasy salted caramel ice-cream has salt crystals all over, maybe clustered into the shards of caramel that are distributed all over.

              Until someone tells me where a good one is in Toronto, I doctor up my own with the likes of Haagen Daz dulce de leche.

                  Now, I wish some gelaterie or ice-cream shop in Toronto would come up with something that is half as good as how that recipe looks like!

                  Thanks for the link. I have two ice-cream makers (both gifts) but no spare time or freezer space. But meanwhile I might just make the caramel sauce using the recipe there.

                    I agree. I am pissed at Toronto right now. Baby wants some good salted caramel ice cream. I may move back to Minnesota!

                      Give Dulce de leche (Haagen Dazs) a try sprinkled with sea salt (I prefer Maldon - available at many/most supermarkets).
                      If anybody makes a better combination I'll rush to try it.
