Mesa in Fairfield gone already?

What happened? Tried to go there last night and while there was a cinco de mayo sign in the window, it is now closed.

Thought the food was good a few months ago.

    It's to become a Panera.

I heard the Panera rumor too, but haven't found anything mentioned in a newspaper or on local news sites. Have you heard a timeframe at all? I would assume they need to do major renovations to the interior.

        I read this article

which just mentions a very vague "this summer" along with "no opening dates have been confirmed."

very stupid management. There is no way they could afford Black Rock Turnpike rents and only be open for dinner. Business and shoppers lunches bring lots of revenue to restaurants on that drag. We attempted to dine there 6 weeks ago, pulled in and found they didn't do lunch. We live in Trumbull, and often shop and lunch on Black Rock Tpk during the day, but haven't driven there for dinner in at least 4 years
