Most Exciting 1 dish meals for single diner in Flushing $7 and under

Title says it all. Looking for something unusual and exciting outside the dan dan noodle, salt and pepper, spicy wonton, realm.

  1. Crispy meatballs in a casserole (丸子扣碗) at Henan Feng Wei?
It is so masterfully executed: the broth is clear and clean tasting, the meatballs are buttery-soft on the inside and stay crispy on the outside even after soaking for a while, the taste is well-balanced.

if you can stretch to $7.95, and do not need very spicy, the Dried Tofu with Fresh Hot Pepper (listed under Vegetables) and the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce at Fu Run.

    2. Lamb noodle soup from upstairs in the Golden Shopping is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. And you'll have a few bucks left over for dumpling too.

Ive had this soup many times, unfortunately on my last trip I had a subpar bowl. They offer the same soup at the henan spot on 41st, and they are not clowning around over there

I'll put my money on the lamb-cumin-noodle soup (think it's "D-2") at Xian Famous Foods - *downstairs* in the Golden Mall - 41st Road and Main Street.

Thanks mike. I used to frequent their east broadway location back when it first opened.
