Lamb noodle soup from upstairs in the Golden Shopping is one of my favorite dishes anywhere. And you'll have a few bucks left over for dumpling too.

Ive had this soup many times, unfortunately on my last trip I had a subpar bowl. They offer the same soup at the henan spot on 41st, and they are not clowning around over there

I'll put my money on the lamb-cumin-noodle soup (think it's "D-2") at Xian Famous Foods - *downstairs* in the Golden Mall - 41st Road and Main Street.

Crispy meatballs in a casserole (丸子扣碗) at Henan Feng Wei?
It is so masterfully executed: the broth is clear and clean tasting, the meatballs are buttery-soft on the inside and stay crispy on the outside even after soaking for a while, the taste is well-balanced.

if you can stretch to $7.95, and do not need very spicy, the Dried Tofu with Fresh Hot Pepper (listed under Vegetables) and the Eggplant with Garlic Sauce at Fu Run.
