Saltimbocca alla romana near the Pantheon/Piazza Navona?

This is my favourite dish and I often make it at home with chicken, not veal. I would love a recommendation on where to have a great traditional saltimbocca when I am in Rome.

Doesn't necessarily have to be in this area, but it is where we are staying in August.

Thanks.

Armando al Pantheon -- which is within spitting distance of the steps of the Pantheon -- has it on its regular menu, made with veal. I can't recommend its version personally (I've not eaten it), but I can recommend the restaurant and so do many other Chowhound posters with long experience of Rome. (You need to reserve.)

Thank you for the recommendation. I think that Armando al Pantheon may be closed during August. It is too early to find out what exact places will be open during our stay - but I fear that many on my list will be closed.

yes, I see now on their website that they close in August for the entire month. Sorry I can't recommend an alternative. I don't eat veal, and only remembered Armando al Pantheon having it because my husband ate it there once.
