Spianatoio - What material and how to clean

I wouldl ove one of these for polenta. What type of wood do you think this is? How do you clean it?
Is it the same wood as a wood board for pasta work?

    My guess is white birch. I say hose it off and wipe dry. Dilute bleach solution if you don't live in a Magic House.
