Shipping Homemade Lemon Curd
I have searched everywhere and cannot find any information about the safety of mailing homemade lemon and lime curds across country. I did fine one mention of possible botulism poisoning from improper canning. But, nothing on the safety of mailing a few jars to my Mom.
Does anyone have any advice or experience doing this and can you offer some advice?
i just put mine in glass jars so it needs refrigeration to be kept safe. are you "canning" it? if so, it's perfectly fine to ship, just packed securely. if not, and your method is like mine, it would need to be shipped overnight and with ice bags to be kept cool.
Have you home canned them? If so, safe to ship. If not, you need to invest in ice packs and overnight shipping.
