Graduation Dinner for 4 on westside

Hi all,

I'm in need of suggestions for a law school graduation dinner for my parents, boyfriend, and I on the Westside. We are all foodies, and do not care as much about "the scene" as the food. I really enjoy Tavern and I am looking for something similar in atmosphere and price range. Outdoor seating is always a plus, but not a necessity. No Italian please as we are all New Yorkers and have plenty of that at home.

Thanks so much.

  1. Rustic Canyon on Wilshire and 11th in Santa Monica for one. Josie on Pico Blvd. and 24th in Santa Monica for another.

+1 for Rustic Canyon and it's wonderful farm to table California cuisine. Their fried cauliflower is a must.

    2. Red Medicine would be a good choice.

      1. Gjelina on Abbott Kinney in Venice is my favorite restaurant in SoCal the last few years. Call now for a reservation and ask for the patio -- they'll tell you they can't promise it, so ask again when you confirm.

Spago has a nice patio and several posters on this board have raved about the tasting menu there.

Many say that the best tasting menu in town is at Providence, a bit further east.

        1. You will not be able to hear one another at Red Medicine. Providence is excellent. One Pico at Shutters is pleasant. I also like Rustic Canyon and Farmshop.

          1. all excellent suggestions thus far. i'd also add FIG and Wilshire to the list of possibilities.

              +1 for FIG.
if you do end up at Fig, be sure to get your parking ticket validated: they will give you three hours of free parking.
