Will be in LIC on thurs night, looking for dinner with 7 year old in tow (actually his b-day is tommorow also, so newly 7), and wondering what would work for dinner...never tried Sage for dinner...would this be good? What else is good with some variety in that area for dinner?

Thank you for some update info...

  1. Love John Brown'sSmokehouse. Small but comfortable enough, and like most Q joints, easy for kids. Mine love it. Food is execellent.

Hi stuart...that's a good idea...do they make good chicken or is it just pork and other meats?

The attached menu has a chicken section as well as other non traditional choices such as pastrami. Like any good Q joint what they actually have available depends on when you arrive and what they decided to smoke that day. All part of the charm. Easy parking as well.

    2. Manducati's fit's the bill.

      1. Tournesol is lovely and child friendly, they will do dishes for children if you tell them what your child likes to eat.

John Brown is excellent for BBQ, the decor is wanting, but at least you can relax in such a casual atmosphere.

Manducatis Rustica is very lively and often has children, the service is very slow but it's child friendly with many desserts and pastries... and pizza.

Similarly Manetta's often has children, has better service than Manducatis Rustica and excellent Italian pastries. You can't go wrong with either, but do make a reservation! Sometimes Manetta's gets packed and wait times can be long.

If you're driving, you might want to consider Salt and Fat in Sunnyside, bacon popcorn is a hit with kids, sliders and other kid friendly dishes as well.
