Aloha Shiro Matsuo

Franz Shiro Matsuo, the founder of Shiro's Saimin Haven, died last week Thursday at the age of 93, according to his family. Shiro's opened in 1969 with its first store in the Aiea Bowling Alley. It moved to Waimalu in 1971. The family has been running the restaurants for some years now, but his passing is still a great loss.

Too bad, sorry to hear of his passing. Shiro's in Waimalu was always a good fall back place to eat. Not my favorite saimin restaurant on Oahu, but you always knew what to expect when eating there and would have a decent meal. The saimin choices were mind boggling sometimes.
