Ivy Tavern open? - Providence

The Ivy closed for "renovations" a couple weeks ago but whenever I went by there did not appear to be anything being done to it. I called yesterday and their number was disconnected. Does anyone know what is up?

Someone told me that the owner "was given an offer he couldn't refuse" so he sold the place. Not sure to who, or why, or what they're planning on doing to it. Hopefully not much, but it was always a busy place, I'm confused why it's been shut for so long.

Interesting. I also heard a rumor it was sold and the new owner was apparently keeping it the same but might be having problems transferring the liquor license. Considering the amount of money lost each week it is closed that sounds kinda crazy.

Saw on the RI Health Inspections website that Dongwoon Lee bought the Ivy in mid April but failed a re-open inspection on May 1.

I wish all department would move to the letter like grade system (A, B, C, etc) displayed in NYC restaurants.

Sounds like a lot of small things, that should have been caught if the new owner walked thru and did a full cleaning. No soap by the handsink? Debris on the meat slicer... etc.

Good news - Ivy is open once again. Went Friday and it was packed. Everything was as good as ever.
