Has anyone tried the BBQ/smoked meats on Rt. 9 in West Creek?

I have heard good things about them smoking ribs, pork shoulder and chicken out of Kelly's (or maybe its Kelli's) Deli on Rt 9 on weekends. Has anyone tried it? Just curious.

I looked at the menu, seemed expensive. They call it a "Pine Barrens style Pig Roast" as I recall. Having lived in these parts since the 60's, never heard of such a thang, so that makes me a skeptic. And to me a Pig Roast is not BBQ. So I also have no idea what they mean.

The parking lot is also VERY small, so I am not sure how they are doing it there. I do live near the Pinewood Estates Firehouse, and they do have a semi-decent BBQ on weekends there. In fact, the parking area just for that BBQ is about 4 times larger than the whole place in West Creek.

But, I have not tried it myself. And so far, no plans to do so.

Quine, Im not sure we are talking about the same place....or are we?...lol From what I hear, the place Im talking about is on the right hand side going south on rt.9 near a gas station and liquor store. There is a huge smoker out in the parking lot on weekends smoking ribs, pork etc...

Yes, it is a very small liquor store, so I am positive I am speaking of the same place. Maybe you are related or working for this "pig roast" business?
And the menu I saw called it a Pig Roast. BBQ and smoking have *nothing* to do with a pig roast. So if they are saying it's a roast when it is BBQ and smoked, someone else is confused.

If I happen to go past the place in the next few days, I'll stop in and get another menu.

Haha. Good one Quine. I am also always suspicious of new posters touting a new eatin place. And while I agree with you about the difference between a pig roast and BBQ, it doesn't really matter to me what they call it if it tastes good!

Yeah but a good Pig Roast is fantastic, and really hard to find in NJ, BBQ is easier.

I have no relation and do not work for whoever is running that operation. I was simply asking if anyone has been there...thats all. I used to go to the BBQ place on rt9 in Forked River which has since closed. I am in Toms River and the best BBQ around here is Brasas Portugese BBQ which is awesome!

See, now things are even more confusing as Brasas is a Churrasco, which is a grilled meat, not the smoker/American slathered in sauce stuff at all.

So I have no idea what you mean by BBQ, now at all.

Thats the name of the place....Brasas Portugese BBQ. I know American BBQ and Portugese BBQ are 2 different species. You're just splitting hairs now. Brasas is the only decent "BBQ" in the TR area.

I don't understand, maybe Chaz just means cooked meat? : (

Anyway, the place in Forked River was pretty decent. We were sad when it closed...

I have only ever partaken of one Pig Roast, my bil did it in his backyard for a graduation party. I was literally forking the oink right off the spit. Talk about deelish.

If anyone tries this place on Rt 9, please post a review!

I could get cooked meat at the diner down the street. I was talking about smoked meat, low and slow and finished Memphis/Carolina style etc...
                      Sorry about the confusion.

Of course you were! It was clearly written in your OP.

Anyway did you ever get down there to try the food?

I thought I was clear when I said "smoking ribs, pork shoulder and chicken"...but maybe not.
I have not got down that way and dont think I will go out of my way to do so. However, if I am in that area on a weekend, I will try it out just for kicks.

You were perfectly clear. We were teasing you. Well, at least I was, I do not speak for Quine.

Do you happen to know what the name of the place is? Is the menu online? Hours, etc?
