Dinner near SECCA in W/S?

Looking for a spot for dinner within an easy drive from the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. We will be at the museum in the late afternoon and thought an early dinner in W/S would be nicer than rush hour issues and a later meal back in Raleigh!

Prefer something with entrees in the under $20 range. We will have Vietnamese for lunch, so would rather have something different. Pub, bistro, contemporary - we are open to it!. My friend is not a bbq buff though...

Searched the board, but nothing really jumped out.

Appreciate any suggestions you might have!

  1. Village Tavern is exactly what you're looking for. It's in Reynolda Village on Reynolda Road, right up the street from the entrance to SECCA. Not mind blowing, but very solid.

    1. Yep, Village Tavern is a good choice as it's very close. Even closer to SECCA is Old Staley's--so that's an option as well (google for info). If you're feeling particularly adventurous, you might check out a restaurant on 4th Street downtown. From SECCA, simply take a right onto Reynolda Rd. and follow its twists and turns into the downtown area. Turn left on 4th Street, where you'll find:

Foothills Brewery (great beer, food is not the star but it's good enough)
Hutch & Harris Pub (excellent food!)
Mellow Mushroom (good pizza and an amazing draft beer selection)
      Mooney's Mediterranean Cafe
      ...and several other choices.

      1. Go to milner's on stratford road and get the fried chicken. Nice atmosphere, good service, great food.

        1. Thanks for all the replies.

We had an earlier appointment at Replacements (selling china) and it took longer than anticipated. By the time we were done we would have had about 10 min. at time!
Looking forward to exploring the area more.
