Wine and cheese paring activity in Santa Monica?

Hey, i'm pretty new to the whole wine tasting thing, and really just want to meet others who are more knowledge who will be able to help me understand this arts of tasting more. I am particularly interested in pairing wine with other food, and i want to start with cheese first since that seems like the basic. I want to know if people can recommend me some events, bars, and activities that I can go in West L.A.?

whole foods in Venice do wine tastings every wednesday night...plus other events throughout the week, month.

Not in Santa Monica, but the Cheese Store of Bevery Hills has monthly cheese and wine tastings.

Close to Santa Monica is Tavern (San Vicente one block east of Barrington). They do beautiful wine and cheese pairings a couple of times a month. Please see link for more info:

The Wine House on Cotner has a number of activities and classes. And they have a terrific restaurant upstairs (called Upstairs 2) where they have a variety of wine dinners.

I'm not the biggest fan of the place as it is too scene-y, but you may try Bodega Wine Bar during off-peak hours. I am sure Wally's also has events.
