TONIGHT We need Restaurant Reqs for Hamburger only guy & people who love good food.

So relatives are here and we're going out to dinner in Oak or Berk tonight. The catch is that their son is a verrrrry picky eater. He'll only eat hamburgers with no frills - onions, relish, etc.

We're trying to find a place that has food the rest of us want to eat, too. We thought of Mua, but it's not our fave place - too huge and cavernous and sometimes noisy. Any other thoughts?

Lukkas is also out for noise reasons.

Thanks for any help in the next couple of hours.

Cafe Rouge. Second on Gather and Sidebar.

You might try someplace around Jack London Square. Not sure how many you are, but these places tend to have the space for groups, will have a basic burger. e.g. Kincaid's, Scott's Seafood? I would not call these great, but for your purposes (and after all, these are no worse than Mua or Luka's), they might do also because they have the added benefit of good times looking at the boats.

I'd look at T-Rex, Chop Bar or Sidebar.

Has T-Rex's burger not gone downhill along with the rest of the food?

Gather in downtown Berkeley does a fine burger. You'll have to specify that you want it plain, though.
