View lunch in La Jolla?
Have a brief time with my mother in SD and need something to do that she'll enjoy, so am looking for a place in LJ that has a good lunch with a view. I know of Georg's at the Cove -- looking for something a little less touristy.

for a more casual view, you could try lunch at the gliderport at torrey pines. it's outdoor dining at picnic tables.

What a spectacular idea. How's the food at the restaurant? Google says it's called Cliff Hanger Cafe)? The website looks pretty sad, but the views must be wonderful.

The pack patio of the Mediterranean Room at La Valencia is lovely, and quiet.
Depending when your mother will be visiting, Eddie V's will open early for the first time to serve brunch on Mother's Day. They plan to begin weekend lunch service on May 19th, but the date is not set in stone.
Agree with BC, silliest move by a restaurant ever to not serve lunch with the $$$ they put into that space (including terrific outdoor spaces). We were talking to the former owners of the former Trattoria Acqua who agrees, he thinks the view far surpasses George's.
