last minute fancy Friday

We were hoping to get into Osteria Mozza for an upcoming celebratory night coming up quickly, but they are likely full. Got a substitute in similar vein, or heck in any vein?

  1. Maximiliano's in Highland Park has great Italian food.

But in the Melrose area try ink or Street or Animal.

All four might be full on a Friday night so reservations might be needed unless you go really late.

    1. Don't know how many people in your party but you can choose seating at the mozza bar/counter, which is for walk-in's. The amaro bar (wine/liquor) is also for walk-in's but you don't get the show (Nancy Silverton at work), plus it can get uncomfortably crowded.

      1. I had the same problem not too long ago, but I kept trying and figured out that they purposely don't have advanced reservations available. Prior to my dinner date night, I had spent three weeks calling Pizzeria Mozza and checkIng OpenTable for reservations. Each time, I was given options of dining at 5:00PM or 10:30PM...never anything in between. The day of my dinner date, I called again...and was able to get a 7:30PM reservation...and they offered me choices of times between 6:00PM - 9:00PM. Coincidence? I think not...I can't possibly imagine that many people cancelled their dining plans between Thursday afternoon (when I called) and Friday (mid-morning) when I called, again. Just keep trying...I think you just might have some success...but have a back up plan just in case. My back up was Lazy Ox in downtown.
