According to this article in yesterday's National Post, Whole Foods is going ahead with a new store on the old Brennan's location....seems like a small spot to me...parking and traffic could be a nightmare....not sure how much I'll shop there....waiting for Longo's on Laird....

  1. That seems like a very very small store, and atypical of Whole Foods usual store footprint...hmm.
Anyway, that corner is going to be a disaster.

    I too would prefer Longo's :)
    Customer ease and prices!

    1. That development has been under fire from neighborhood groups since it started. The developer appealed to the OMB and got pretty much 100% lot coverage with underground parking. I believe the footprint is something like 4600 sq.m. which should be fine for a Whole Foods store.

That corner is very busy with traffic backed up down Broadview and up Bayview during rush hour and on weekends. I can't imagine what traffic will be like once there's a grocery store there.

Ah. Underfground parking was the missing piece of information.

That corner is going to be a disaster. You're right, traffic is already terrible and I suspect there will be so much overfow into North Leaside and the neighbourhood to the west onto the side streets to avoid that stretch of Bayview.

We;ll be detouring over to laird where the Longo's will be :)

      2. Where is this?
OP says Broadway, another post says Broadview.

Bayview and Broadway....two blocks north of Eglinton on the west side...been sitting empty for months/years....

Across the street from the Esso station.

Everyone is right, the corner will is a catastrophe waiting to happen.

First St Clair then Eglinton and now Bayview and Broadway. I guess this is public-private partnership in action.

        2. As someone who lives nearby, I LOVE the idea of being able to walk to a Whole Foods, but hate the idea of more traffic. I'm just hoping people don't block our driveway!

          1. 2014/2015 opening? Hard to look forward to that! I heard there was one coming to Front and Bathurst - does anybody have news on this? Thanks!

Also,,,any updates on McEwan supermarket eventually opening at King/Bathurst?

              1. re: justsayn

On Whole Foods - Bayview: over 50,000sq ft, good size, comes with a large new LCBO also.

On rumoured Whole Foods Bathurst/Front, its tied to a new condo proposal that is not yet finalized/approved, assuming plans don't change (and the condo market doesn't collapse), I would think construction late next year (hasn't gone to market yet); so maybe 2015??

On McEwan - Downtown, after the flurry of rumours a year ago +, haven't heard a thing, would love to know more myself.

OK thanks! That's pretty much where I am at with updates also. It is a long time to wait. Too bad nobody is opening in an existing store front to speed things along...a bit...we need a great prepared food store in the Bathurst Queen/King area desparately. Love Alimento a lot, but it doesnt have much in the way of fresh prepared foods. Fresh and Wild prepared foods are not on par with their prices. I also think Fresh and Wild rinses off all the flavour of their cooked bbq chickens before packing them for sale.
