Chris DeBarr leaving Green Goddess!

His last dinner will be May 13. The good news, though, is that he's opening a place in Mid-City (in the American Can Company, probably where the Olive Branch was?) which will be bigger and close to where I work! The bad news is that the FQ is (potentially) losing a great restaurant.

Now word on if the restaurant will continue without him, yet...

      Chef Paul does a lot of the cooking, so I'm sure it'll still be good. What might be missing is the creativity.

        And the creativity was what sang through all the reviews that I read about GG. Unless I hear some glowing things in the weeks after Chef Debarr leaves I'm probably scrapping it this trip.

        Good thing I'm headed to NOLA where ample dining substitutes abound!

    2. awesome. i loved his food at GG, and his personality. but due to the severely limiting size could not visit often enough.

      cant wait to try the new location.

        I thought he was the owner? I guess not. Hope it remains as great and that there would now be TWO such places!

          he was, i believe. he left a different restaurant to start GG, and had another chef do the lunch service.

      2. Wow, I was planning to go for lunch on 5/18. I understood that Chris primarily did dinner and Paul primarily did lunch, I'm hoping that's still a good plan. Can anyone tell me how the lunch crowds have been lately? Any ideas for back-up plan in case it's too jammed up?

        1. I just hope that wherever he ends up, he will put the meatloaf and the chips fried in duck fat back on the menu......

          1. OH, happy day!--not that he's leaving the Quarter, but that he'll be in a LARGER restaurant (with parking). And American Can is in need of a good restaurant. This will be a great addition to Mid-City. Can't wait.
