Help! Where to take out-of-towners in the Village/Highline Area

Hello All,

I'm in a bit of a pickle. Friends of mine are in town for the night and want to meet for dinner. Usually, we go out for dinner in Brooklyn in our neighborhood. (We have kids and don't want to venture to Manhattan just in case something happens, and haven't kept up with the Manhattan restaurant scene).

I was thinking of the Village or may be taking them to the Highline and then go for dinner in that area. It doesn't matter what type of cuisine, we are open to pretty much anything. However, it shouldn't be over the top expensive.

Thanks so much for any advise,

ShinerBockToGo

Will you be with the kids? How big is your party? How old are the kids?

    Ideas near the High Line:
    Co aka Company
    Grand Sichuan
    Txikito -- call to reserve
    Chelsea Market
Tap Room at Colicchio and Sons
    Cookshop
Scarpetta -- I've seen kids in the front room
    Trestle on Tenth
    Red Cat
    Ovest
    Tipsy Parson
    La Promenade des Anglais
    Bottino

Great list, thanks so much. No kids, just 4 adults.
