Drinks- Upper West Side

I was wondering if there are any nice places to go have drinks on the upper west side- places that don't get too crowded, but are still enjoyable to be at and have really good drinks. If you have any suggestions, please send them over. Thanks!

Are you looking for cocktails? wine? microbrews? For the first, I'd say to try Slightly Oliver. But they do get crowded, esp. as it gets later. For the second, I'd recommend Tolani, Tangled Vine, and even Cotta. (Esp. Cotta if you are looking for good food too.) All three can get really crowded later in the evening. For beer, I'd recommend George Keeley. Dive Bar has quite the selection too. They also have a good selection of whiskey as Pan notes and they do have an okay bourbon list as well. They tend to have waves of crowds - softball players in the afternoon, then a lull, then getting crowded later on.

I guess it depends on which day of the week and what time you are thinking of as well.

Thanks- I was looking for cocktails, Saturday evening- I am staying at a friend's place around there but my friend has to work and can't go out until later so I just thought it would be fun to maybe grab a drink somewhere before meeting her. Thank you!

I'm not tremendously knowledgeable on cocktails. But, that said, do give Slightly Oliver a try if that is the vicinity you are speaking of. If you like a more "savory" drink, I find the Goblin Punch very interesting. The do classic cocktails, their own line of "punches", and other drinks. I would think getting a seat for one at the bar wouldn't be so bad. www.slightlyolivernyc.com

When I was living in the West 90s last year, the only bar I found that seemed to have at least a bit of a scene other than on Saturday nights and such was Dive Bar on 96 St. and Amsterdam. I don't know how their cocktails are, but they have at least one very good bartender and a good selection of whiskeys.
