ISI Whip...where did I go wrong????

So, I got an ISI whip as a present, its the .5l one.

I made some whipped cream which seemed to work perfectly.

Next, I tried to make a coconut foam following this recipe:

http://www.molecularrecipes.com/foams...

I charged it with 1 charger (given I have a .5L and did not change the recipe) should I have cut it in half?

I followed the instructions perfectly, and at first got some wonderful coconut foam out.

However, shortly there after, I couldn't get any additional foam to extrude, even with additional shaking, I depressed the handle to try to get all the N2O out and then undid the lid to see if there was anymore foam.

It exploded all over my kitchen and there was still quite a bit left inside.

Why didn't it all get out?????

Thanks!

my first guess would be that you either had coconut bits from the milk or undissolved gelatin that clogged your ISI. That would explain why you couldn't release the N2O and why it exploded when you opened it with plenty of liquid left inside . . . .

    My first thought at least . . . .

thats a good thought Do you think maybe I should throw it in a blender/foodprocessor right before I put it in the ISI

I wouldn't do that since that might beat too much air into it before you charge it. But you could strain the mixture before it goes into the ISI to be sure any possible coconut pieces or gelatin chunks are removed. That might help.
