Itinerary for Barcelona - Please Critique!!

Hi all -

Thanks for all of your advice (via many Barcelona threads). I am in Barcelona for three nights and I am still wavering on the right choices. I am most interested in Molecular, but I don't want to miss more traditional or modern takes on the food of Catalunya.

Night 1 - Alkimia
Night 2 - Tickets
Night 3 - Dos Cielos or Gelonch (have two reservations, have to drop one)

Thoughts? Recommended substitutions? Don't think we have the time for an out-of-town trip.

If the hotel manages to get 41 degrees (unlikely), should I drop Tickets or should I try to do both? Seems redundant, but maybe I don't understand the difference.

Would appreciate your help. Some of the others I considered were Cinq Sentits, Comerc24.

sks..

I had a really mediocre lunch at Alkimia (yes, others have different experiences) but was blown away by Hisop and Cinq Sentits. I ADORED Sant Pau, really worth it IMHO - if you can get a reservation it is an easy and pretty hour train ride during the day.

That's interesting Estnet - I'm intrigued why Alkimia was poor and what it was about Cinq Sentits that you really enjoyed? I'm trying to decide between the two.

One persons opinion- Forget 41 degrees, we were there and imho was terribly overpriced, and the food was fair at best. Alikima is wonderful, in fact I'll be back there on my trip in two weeks as well as my sixth time at the master, Gelonch...that would be my night 3 choice of you...BTW, Tickets is fine.....

I have to ask - did you do the 41 course tasting at 41 degrees, or did you go during the previous incarnation. I just got reservations for Night 2 at 41 degrees, now I am wondering if I should bail?

What is the experience of others at 41 degrees during the new version with the 41 courses?

In fairness, we were there about three weeks after the format change. Having had the honor to dine at El Bulli, I thought this would be similar. The only thing that was close was the Adria name. We thought the dinner had two many sweet dishes (especially to start). We sent one dish back which was vile, and they never even apoligised (sp), just brought out a substitiute dish. IMHO, and I write a lot here on CH, this dinner was not worth the money, and the place wouldn't make it on it's own, again, this is my opinion, if the name Adria wasn't connected. On the other hand, Tickets, (tapas) was wonderful.

If you click on my name, just go back in my posts and look for my review on 41 degrees. It will give you a little more insight, from my perspective.
