Driving from Nyc to Pittsburgh
Driving from Nyc to Pittsburgh this coming Friday, May 4th, along rts 78 & 76. Am looking for late breakfast/lunch suggestions approximately midway of journey. Nothing too fancy, would prefer offbeat local places with "diner, drive-ins, dives" type menus. Will travel offroad to access, but within reasonable distance; i.e. 3 to 4 miles. Thanks for your help.

In Shartlesville, about midway between Allentown and Harrisburg, you can try the Shartlesville Inn. It's PA Dutch food, served family style. Not gourmet by any means, but decent. And if you have an hour to kill, stop in at Roadside America a half mile up the road. Pure tourist trap, but fun, even for the adults.
(Oops, I see I'm too late. Well, try it the next time.)

Just had dinner at out of the fire cafe just off exit 91 on pa turnpike supurb seafood very affordable lunch byob beauful location. Among other things had the soft shell crabs as an appetizer and was informed by mgr Dan that they get them in live and crabs were just cleaned an hour ago! That said on that on it was done tempura think it would be better if you asked for sauteed. Exit 91 (lingoner) of exit there is a T turn right mile on right hand side.
Opps see I'm to late next time..
