I'm wondering what your recommendation for the most relaxing, serene dinner setting is in New York?

Bouley comes to mind as a peaceful, quiet space, with the plush velvet-lined walls absorbing most sound.

But what other places offer an excellent dining experience in a quiet, peaceful setting?

Bouley for lunch is quite serene. As is the Central Park Boathouse on a early weekday afternoon lunch in May.

I always find Del Posto to be serene. The atmosphere is plush with tables spaced far apart. The just-quiet-enough live piano music also adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Plus the food is excellent.

Agree with you about Bouley. Per Se also offers the same type of dining experience (for more than twice the price though).

The restaurant at Petrossian is also very serene and the food is quite good.
