MAYWOOD-SEAFOOD GOURMET
Went with my wife on saturday to this place-we had heard good things but never went there. It is a small restaurant in the back of a seafood market.BYOB-Nothing fancy but enjoyed very much-We had oyster,I had lobster bisque and my wife the chowder. She had soft shell crabs and I had blackened swordfish.Curious on other peoples experiences have been at the restaurant and some dish recommendations there

I like the fish and chips, but I think their fried calamari is even better - you get a huge portion and the squid doesn't feel rubbery or frozen like in most calamari, it's the perfect texture and tastes a bit sweet. Although they could be a little crispier, I think the calamari rank among the best I've ever had :)
When I get dinner from Seafood Gourmet I usually try to pick the fish dishes from the weekly specials, especially the white fish such as halibut, bass, and swordfish - those are always excellent!

Went for the 2nd time and had one of the specials-Swordfish Florentine-Swordfish stuffed with spinach and gorgonzola with a marsala sauce over some mushroom ravioli-delicious-everyone else enjoyed their meals-Unfortunately when we left my car had been towed-a drunk driver smashed into 5 cars and ours was one of them-true story

Are you talking about the place on West Pleasant Ave? I have never eaten there, but on occasion have picked up some Fish and Chips as take-out. Pretty good!
I will go there, order my take-out and do my food shopping across the street at the excellent Maywood market. In the meanwhile my food will be ready!›1 Reply
