Seeking Eggplant Sandwich in East Bay

I would like to have an eggplant sandwich for lunch in the Berkeley/Oakland area. I would particularly like roasted eggplant, but would be willing to try other variations.

Suggestions?

I wonder if any place makes a sandwich using Japanese or Chinese eggplant, which is smaller and thinner than normal eggplant, but has a really superior texture and flavor. Any ideas?

Uncle dougie's in Berkeley has an awesome NY style eggplant parmesan. The only other place that comes to mind is Sportivo, but theirs is pretty awful.

In Emeryville, Rotten City Pizza has them on occasion. Call or check their Facebook page. They're pretty good.

In Berkeley, I saw one on the menu at Paisan, but I don't know whether it was a special.

Also in Berkeley, Lucca has them on the menu, but the one time I tried it the eggplant was undercooked and a little bitter.
