Trendy Birthday Dinner...that's foodie, too!

We're headed off to Vegas next week to celebrate my cousin's birthday. She appreciates good food (though in small portions), but is more into the trendy scene. My other cousin is expecting, and has developed an aversion to seafood. I'm the CH of the group, and I like everything that's delicious. We'd like to surprise the birthday girl with a terrific dinner. We're staying at the Cosmo on the Strip, and we're from suggestions of Comme Ca and Scarpetta or anything available in L.A. should be ruled out. Let's keep the budget to $80 per person including tax, tip, and drinks. We will have access to a car if there's something off the Strip.
Please help. Thanks.

  1. Any suggestions, anyone?

    1. The trendiest scene I've experienced in Vegas is at the N9NE Steakhouse at the Palms. When I ate there a couple of years ago, it was full of "beautiful people" and hipsters. Chris Rock was at the bar and Charlie Sheen was celebrating his birthday at the table next to us. However, I'm not sure it meets your other criteria. Typical steakhouse prices there will run you around $100 per person. I had a great meal, but for a pure steakhouse, you can do better at other spots.

      1. Go to Jaleo. Very good to great food, scene is very good and very lively.

That was my first thought, too. When the expectant cousin reviewed the menu, she thinks there might be so many tastes and flavors that will induce nausea. I'm sad...I think Jaleo would have been perfect.
