Dinner in Millbrae?

Can anyone recommend a restaurant for dinner in Millbrae?

Most important quality is quiet enough for a conversation.

A close second is killer desserts!

Favorite cuisine is Italian, French, Californian, or classic American. A cool diner would be fine, upscale fancy/expensive would also be fine if it is quiet.

Thanks so much.

I've not been there, but 16 Mile House comes to mind for the classic American category. Maybe another 'hound can fill us in on what it's like these day and the atmosphere.

Thanks. It looks a bit pricy, but interesting. I'll report back if we end up eating there.

It's hard to think of anything besides Chinese in Millbrae!

The owner (who is Chinese, btw) of 16 Mile House also operates Peter's Cafe, which has been a fixture for many years. More of a diner, here's an old thread,

Maybe Kincaid's in Burlingame? But I doubt that it's much less than 16 Mile House.

Next town north, Jack's in San Bruno?

Also in San Bruno, Cafe Grillades, in the shopping center at San Bruno Ave. and Cherry, by Mollie Stone's. It has North African and French influences and they also do American standard sandwiches, salads and breakfat. It's small and usually quiet.

Their dessert crepes are really popular and they have gelato.
