Atlantic beach for foodies

We are traveling to Atlantic beach on May 10th and are looking for any sort of Local produce stands, or cheese and charcuterie markets. From what I've read I'm pretty much out of luck but thought I'd ask anyway.

    NC?

If so (and even if another) I'm afraid you will be hard-pressed to find a fromagerie or charcuterie there or most any place around these parts. Am afraid the closest you will come may be the boars head at the NY Deli on the Causeway which is one of my favorite places around there. You may be a bit early for local produce (and my recollection is there is not typically a lot of that right around AB or Morehead City proper even in season). Try some of the other local products though hitting many of the seafood markets. Restaurants that we always look forward to visiting (across a wide-range here) inlcude Blue Moon Bistro, Aqua, and Frontstreet Grill in Beaufort, Windansea, Bistro by the Sea and Mrs. Willis in Morehead City. There's also Island Grille in Atlantic Beach. Plus the all time classic--a shrimp burger from Big Oak Drive-In in Salter Path or El's Drive-In in Morehead. Most of these places have a web presence so you can scout out a bit if you like

      Silly me-yes N.C.
Our first stop on the way into town will be Big Oak Drive; I've read lots of reviews, i just hope it lives up to the hype. Thanks for the restaurant information, I'll be checking into those shortly. I've read good things about Atlantic Beach Seafood Market. We plan on stopping there for some fresh fish-any thoughts?
      Thanks!

Sadly, Mrs. Willis' has been closed for quite some time - at least 2 years now.

One place on the Morehead waterfront that is outstanding, and uses as much locally produced product as possible, is Sammy's. The Ruddy Duck is another.

The Crab Shack at Salter Path is also worth a visit.

There is a decent farm stand at the corner of Bridges St. and Friendly Rd. (turn left at Smithfield BBQ on Eastbound Hwy 70--go one street over.) The little bakery onsite makes great cookies and other items.
For fresh Seafood: Blue Ocean Market, 2010 Bridges Street, Morehead City, NC 28557, (252) 726-4886. Eric the owner is a chef, has his own boats and sells it fresh and local. Everything I have had from there has been capable of swimming away!
On the island: Cap'n Willis Seafood--7803 Emerald Drive Emerald Isle, NC 28594
        (252) 354-2500. Ask for Len.
