Mexican empanadas
Please help. I am invited for Cinco de Mayo party this Saturday. I better bring some Mexican food... I'll experiment with chicken and mole at home, of course, but it would be nice to have a back-up plan (in case something will go terribly wrong with my mole). Any recommendations, where to buy authentic Mexican empanadas? Eaters will be quite picky, they know empanadas. Though, I live close to NDG, I will travel for food. :-D Thank you.

I think Sabor Latino (formerly Andes on St. Laurent - they have another location, but I've never been) has them (can't vouch for exactly how authentico they are, but the market is usually solid). Their Salvadoran tomales are good too.
No menudo?! hehe.

re: indeed
We had a Cinco de Mayo party a few years back. My buddy actually hired a Mariachi band as a surprise

I made a huge pot of menudo which I agonized over for quite awhile (from planning, purchasing ingredients, cooking, and serving).
Our Mexican friends (and the band) said it was as good as any they ate. For me, this was the ultimate compliment - I still fill with pride over that...
We were torn this year: Cinco or Kentucky Derby Gala. Alas, its gonna be low-key mint juleps and BBQ....
