Birthday Cake near Dupont Circle

My brother lives near dupont circle and he's holding a little surprise party for my husband when we arrive from NYC on Saturday. Can someone suggest a great bakery where I can order a cake and my brother can pick it up before the party? I'd like a suggestion besides Cake Love, which my husband is not a fan of. Thank you!

All the baked goods I've had at Marvelous Market have been better than Firehook

That's true. They're also much more expensive. The rugelach there are awesome.

I got some pretty good cake from Firehook a few weeks ago in Dupont. The German Chocolate Cake was solid.

I was going to suggest Firehook too. The lemon raspberry cake is very nice (although it could use a few more raspberries).

Thanks so much! I found that place online, but no reviews, so this is really helpful. Hubs asked for "something spring-y" so the lemon raspberry would totally fit the bill. Thanks again!

Just to follow up, we got the cake from Firehook, and it was OK. The family seemed to like it, but I thought it was dry, the butter cream frosting was pretty bland and as pp said, not enough raspberries. The lemon curd topping was nice and tart, though. I would not go back there, but it did serve the purpose. Thanks.

I've ordered birthday cakes from Marvelous Market in the past. They have a Dupont location. Their chocolate cake is incredibly delicious!
