Great food great scene ideas wanted for Washington dc
People here are very helpful but you know it does take time to reply to these inquiries. It would be considerate to state what part of DC or the suburbs you will be staying in, whether you will have a car or are willing to take public transportation, what cuisines you prefer, price-range. Because this open-ended question is basically asking people to write a book for you.
Not to mention that it doesn't appear that you've even searched this board or read recent threads. There have been a least a half dozen inquiries of this type in the past couple of weeks.
More info about your likes and dislikes, location, etc. would be helpful, but I'll throw out a couple of ideas.
Little Serow - Issan food brought to you by the same genius behind Komi. Excellent food and a good value. You need to be heat tolerant.
Pearl Dive - great seafood, esp. oysters, and good drinks
Both of these places take no reservations and are popular, so arrive early if you can. They are near Dupont Circle and U St. respectively, both of which are good areas for nightlife.
Depends on what you mean by awesome. DC is a great place for ethnic foods of all types, and has a very good fine dining scene. So depending on what you want, we can give you some recommendations. However, some places are very hard reservations to get.
So I'd recommend:
Indian - Rasika
Spanish - Taberna del Alabardero
Tapas/Small Plates - Zaytinya, Bar Pilar
Beer Centric - Brasserie Beck (Belgian), Birch & Barley/ChurchKey
Fine Dining - Palena, The Source, Corduroy, CityZen, Fiola, Citronelle
Ethiopian - Etete, Ethiopic
The reservation to get if you can but don't bet on it - Komi, MiniBar
