Chow-worthy in Delray?

Rona Gindin Apr 29, 2012 02:46 PM

I need a midscale to upscale restaurant with delicious food, preferably in Boynton/Lake Worth/Delray. Did Henry's last time and need to move on. Maybe someplace in one of those cute Delray neighborhoods? A gastropub that actually has good food? Nothing too frou-frou, as we'll have Grandma and a teen with us. Help?

You may want to check out the Miami-fort lauderdale board. That's generally where you'll find all south Florida posts and chowhounders.

With that said Delray has many great restaurants. The Delray chowhound favorite seems to be bamboo fire. It's a small mom and pop Caribbean restaurant with great food. Simply do a search on that board for bamboo fire and a ton of stuff will come up. You can also do a delray search and find pages of reviews.

Thanks so much. I'll do that.

We had two nice meals in Delray Beach last year: at Tryst (a trendy gastropub with good food) and The Blue Anchor (a traditional British pub with great food), both on Atlantic Avenue, where everyone hangs out.

Other than that, if I'm down that far south, I'll usually drive to Ben's Kosher Deli in Boca Raton, which is awesome.

These look perfect, Lou, especially Tryst. Thank you SO MUCH.

I'm a big fan of Bamboo Fire but in this case might not recommend as OP requested midscale to upscale. I'd put BF at ultra-casual. Food is great but with mom and pop staff it runs on Island Time. Grandma and teen may get antsy.
