Greyhound History
I love a greyhound, naturally with gin. I also love to argue over whether greyhounds are to be made with gin or vodka, vodka drinkers insisting it's traditionally made with vodka, gin drinkers, of course, with gin. Does anyone know the history of this cocktail? I like to stick up for gin whenever I have the chance. Chin Chin!

History is vague. Traditionally it was made with gin, and the recipe was known since at the least 1930's, but has also been made with vodka since possibly the late 50's and definitely the late 60's/early70's. The Salty Dog is the same cocktail, with a salted rim. Interestingly enough, the Salty Dog tastes less sour because of the salt.
