Early dinner near the Verizon Center on Monday

Thanks for all your suggestions! My friend was running late, so we crossed the street and went to Legals, which was fine. I'm going to make a note of all these ideas for the next time we get together, though. :)

Matchbox. Everything else I'd recommend would be too expensive/exotic (Rasika or Graffiato).

Busboys and Poets on 5th and K is about 3 blocks away from Verizon center. Food is great, reasonable and menu is diverse. Google and go to website to check out menu.

Another vote for PS7. They open at 4:00 and on Mon. night they have 1/2 price burgers, in addition to a couple of other food specials. The tuna sliders are full price, but they are wonderful - highly recommended.

I would head over to the bar at PS7 and take advantage of any happy hour deals they have. The bar/lounge serves the full menu as well as the stellar lounge menu. Some of the best cocktails in town. And if you get there early there shouldn't be much of a crowd--especially on a Monday.

Make sure not to miss out on the tuna tartar sliders.

I would go with oyamel or rasika but I don't think they start until 5:30

Graffiato is also a good choice. I'm pretty sure they are open all the way through from lunch, but double check.
